8 And when he comes, he will show the world how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in the right, and about judgement:

9 about sin: in that they refuse to believe in me;

10 about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father and you will see me no more;

11 about judgement: in that the prince of this world is already condemned.

And Still We Wait.

Before he left, Jesus asked his disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the Spirit he was going to send them. His disciples waited, and, when I look around, I have the impression that his disciples are still waiting. We are all waiting.

As a matter of fact, our whole life is waiting. We are waiting to finish our studies, we are waiting for graduation day, we are waiting to be loved, we are waiting for children, we are waiting to be healed, and in the end we are waiting for death.

We are waiting for things all the time. Yet, those things are not the real things we are waiting for. Those things are not even the beginning of the end of our waiting.

What we are really waiting for is something else. The real thing we are waiting for is infinitely more than all the things mentioned, or all the things that we might mention. Our waiting goes deeper.

We are still praying and waiting as if Christ had not yet come. We are still waiting for a God who sent his Son. We are still waiting for his Son, who came two thousand years ago, and who sent us the Spirit.

We are still waiting for that Spirit, forgetting that she was given to us, very long ago. God is within us.

We do not believe. We are waiting because we do not believe. We are waiting for ourselves. Everything is given already, everything is within and with us.

All Loving God

Cultivate in us a spirituality that flows out of Marian simplicity, humility and modesty.

Release in us wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration and excitement for your work in which we share.

Help us set our gaze on those people and places most in need of Christlife,

Impel us to respond together,

And lead us to be in communion with one another, and with you.

Like Mary, we listen for your invitation,

Like Mary, we set out joyfully and in haste to the hill country of the lives of young people,

Like Mary, we build communities in ways that are Christ-centred.

All Loving God, come and live in our hearts.
