Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

In the great tranquility of God’s order, all things come to rest—all things except men and women, who with their stupendous gift of free will, can refuse to accept either the order or its tranquility, or even God himself. Thus, men and women can choose to live without hope, without rest, without love.
Because so many of us refuse to accept God’s order, there is a darkness, a fear, an unhappiness, and a disorder that rule the world. We are besieged on all sides by forebodings of annihilation and destruction. How could it be otherwise? No one can challenge God with impunity.
Men and women seek vainly to escape darkness, fear, and unhappiness, or to find some natural solution for these things. But it is vain because their “escape” is directed away from God, and their solutions are not rooted in God’s laws.
Yet what they must do, and what they must avoid, if they desire peace, happiness, order, and a life without fear, is blueprinted for humanity in the Ten Commandments.
Let us [pray] with the psalmist, “Your testimonies are my meditation, and your justifications my counsel . . . Open my eyes that I may consider the wondrous things in your law . . . Strengthen me by your words” (Psalm 119:24, 18, 25).

All Loving God

Cultivate in us a spirituality that flows out of Marian simplicity, humility and modesty.

Help us set our gaze on those people and places most in need of Christlife,

Impel us to respond together,

And lead us to be in communion with one another, and with you.

Like Mary, we listen for your invitation,

Like Mary, we set out joyfully and in haste to the hill country of the lives of young people,

Like Mary, we build communities in ways that are Christ-centred.

All Loving God, come and live in our hearts.
