I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

15 'If your brother does something wrong, go and have it out with him alone, between your two selves. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother.

16 If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you: whatever the misdemeanour, the evidence of two or three witnesses is required to sustain the charge.

17 But if he refuses to listen to these, report it to the community; and if he refuses to listen to the community, treat him like a gentile or a tax collector.

18 'In truth I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

19 'In truth I tell you once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in heaven.

20 For where two or three meet in my name, I am there among them.'

Breaking Open The Word

We can pray without ceasing, as St. Paul said. We can say with the Apostles, “Lord, teach me to pray.”

What Can We Do?

I have been overcome with grief at times, and felt my heart like a stone in my breast, it was so heavy, and always I have heard, too, that voice, “Pray.”

What can we do? We can pray. We can pray without ceasing, as St. Paul said. We can say with the Apostles, “Lord, teach me to pray.” We can say with St. Paul, “Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do?” Will our Father give us a stone when we ask for bread?

We remember Jesus’ words, “I tell you solemnly once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in My Name, I shall be there with them.” (Matthew 18).

There is another bit of Scripture which stands out in my mind these days. It is this: “Where sin abounds, there did grace more abound.” Resting in this promise, I am content.

All Loving God

Cultivate in us a spirituality that flows out of Marian simplicity, humility and modesty.

Release in us wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration and excitement for your work in which we share.

Help us set our gaze on those people and places most in need of Christlife,

Impel us to respond together,

And lead us to be in communion with one another, and with you.

Like Mary, we listen for your invitation,

Like Mary, we set out joyfully and in haste to the hill country of the lives of young people,

Like Mary, we build communities in ways that are Christ-centred.

All Loving God, come and live in our hearts.
