The Christs We Know.

Who then is this about whom I hear such things?

[Jesus] is my brother who, since he is a little older than me, is always a death ahead of me; who, since he is a little younger than me, and madder than me, is always a miracle ahead of me.

What does he do for me? I learn from him. When one has ceased to learn one is dead, and it is from him that I learn most. He talks about my life in the way I want him to talk, without any contempt. He doesn’t allow a single day of my life to be held cheap, doesn’t allow it to be meaningless or without the great experiment. I learn from him to overcome all cynicism. I find this the most difficult lesson today. For there are convincing reasons for despising people. There are excellent reasons for despising myself. There is a temptation to affirm life only partially, for only a little way, only under certain circumstances. He puts me to shame—my limited, impatient, partly superficial affirmation. He teaches me an infinite, a revolutionary ‘yes’ which doesn’t leave out anything or anybody at all.

For us Jesus is the human face of God. In a privileged way we encounter him in the three special Marist places, where Jesus reveals God to us: At the Crib…At the Foot of the Cross…at the altar…

It is in these special Marist places that we not only encounter the love of Jesus, but also these are meeting places with the poor.

All Loving God

Cultivate in us a spirituality that flows out of Marian simplicity, humility and modesty.

Release in us wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration and excitement for your work in which we share.

Help us set our gaze on those people and places most in need of Christlife,

Impel us to respond together,

And lead us to be in communion with one another, and with you.

Like Mary, we listen for your invitation,

Like Mary, we set out joyfully and in haste to the hill country of the lives of young people,

Like Mary, we build communities in ways that are Christ-centred.

All Loving God, come and live in our hearts.
